From humble beginnings in 1992, working for a small Toronto-based Wedding DJ company with my high school friend Paul Jones (nicknamed Jester) to wanting a little bit more exposure, Paul and I founded “Worldwide” on the University of Toronto’s Community Radio Station, 89.5 CIUT in 1996.
The exposure from “Worldwide” opened up a world of opportunities, with me eventually holding many night-club residencies along the Adelaide / Richmond strip and playing at concerts and record release parties for the likes of Shaggy, Wyclef Jean of the Fugees, Busta Rhymes and many others.
In 2001 with my marriage to my beautiful wife Marsha, I returned to the Wedding and Special Event industry. Since then I have had the opportunity to DJ some high profile Weddings and Events, including former City TV Breakfast Television Host, Liza Fromers Wedding, the 2009 NHL All-Star Game in Montreal, the 2010 Major League Soccer (MLS) championship game in Toronto, as well as sharing the stage with Canadian Rock & Roll Legends Jeff Healy and Tom Cochrane.
I am the two time winner of “Canadian Wedding DJ of the Year” at the Canadian Wedding Industry Awards and also won the inaugural “DJ Leadership Award” from the Canadian Professional DJ Association. I’m the only DJ in Canada to be recognized by both the Wedding and DJ industry as the top performer in my field.
Teaching has also become a passion for me, and I have had the opportunity to teach future wedding planners what to look for when hiring a DJ at the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada (WPIC) certification courses. I’ve also been interviewed and mentioned in Toronto Life Magazine, the Globe & Mail, Today’s Bride, Weddingsbells, Wedluxe Magazine.
Giving back to my industry, in 2009 I served as the National President for the Canadian Professional DJ Association (CPDJA) and I am currently the Toronto Chapter President for the International Society of Event Specialists (ISES).
