“Talk of the town” is an often over exaggerated and cliche phrase yet it was used with sincerity by our guests to describe our autumn wedding at the Design Exchange and the slick stylings of Michael Coombs.
Michael attentively listened to the challenges of combining two different cultures, traditions and families, and developed a plan that seamlessly tied together Japanese drummers, German polkas and Mauritian Sega music into an event that didn’t see an empty space on the dance floor all evening. Michael always approached our meetings with a calm demeanor which was especially refreshing in the dramatic world of wedding planning. His ability to read the crowd and keep us informed was not only a testament to his experience but his professionalism. He cut through the nonsense that often gets the better of the wedding industry.
Our regret: we should have hired Michael as our wedding planner, braving it solo was no fun feat. Thank you Michael for your amazing work and for giving our big group of out of towners ‘something to talk about’.

“Planning a wedding is a huge feat and there are so many important choices to be made early on in the process. For us, one of our top priorities was finding a DJ that could keep our guests dancing all night and made sure that everyone had fun. When we met you, Michael, we knew we found the right person for the job. You were curious about us as people and determined to understand our musical tastes. It was very clear to us that we would be working with a professional that would put a lot of thought and consideration into our day.
And you never let us down. The music during the cocktail hour was perfect for the crowd. Our bridal party introductions were thoughtful and funny. And, you helped to keep our party on track with timing. But most important of all, the songs choices when the party really got started were such a fantastic mix of all genres that we love throughout all of our favourite decades! We had grandparents, aunts and uncles dancing along side of children and young cousins – and not just for one or two songs, but the whole night!!! And, as the bride and groom, we loved every song so much that we couldn’t leave the dance floor! We might have missed one or two songs at most. When you told us it was 12:30am, we couldn’t believe the night was nearing an end we were having so much fun!
Of all the choices we made throughout the entire wedding planning process, you were one of the best ones! We know that our night simply would not have had the same impact with a different DJ. You made it happen and we couldn’t imagine anyone else being able to that as effectively.
