What happens when you stop trying to be everything to everyone, and build a business around the work you actually want to do?
On this episode, I sit down with luxury wedding and event planner Andrea Eppolito to talk about the major shift that changed the direction of her business. Andrea made the decision to walk away from high-volume work and completely reposition herself around a more personal, intentional approach to luxury.
And it wasn’t an easy transition.
Andrea opens up about the fear of saying no to inquiries and wondering whether the phone would ever ring again. She stripped away portfolio work that no longer represented where she wanted to go, rebuilt her website, changed her messaging, and became incredibly selective about the clients she accepted. During one of the toughest years of that transition, more than 100 leads came in, and she booked just two weddings.
She also shares how her personal “board of directors,” including her husband and strategist Sean Low, helped her stay committed to the bigger vision when it would have been much easier to go back to what was familiar.
The conversation also gets into what luxury clients are really paying for. With weddings starting around $2,500 per guest, Andrea explains why high-end clients aren’t simply buying more expensive things. They’re paying for personalization, incredibly detailed decision-making, access to exceptional talent, and an experience that feels completely their own.
We also dig into how the industry is changing. From social media breaking down traditional gatekeepers to AI reshaping the way businesses operate and communicate, the path to building a luxury brand looks very different today.
And through it all, Andrea comes back to one important idea: luxury isn’t about doing what everyone else is doing, only bigger or more expensive.
It’s about creating something personal, intentional, and impossible to replicate. Enjoy!
